Beautiful ancient building but small improvements to be made

Magnificent ancient building. However not up to the level of a 5 stars palace from the Sofitel brand: - the food: average at best ( we have tried La Corniche and the breakfast). The breakfast is decent but what you expect from a 5*. The tea is just a bag of English breakfast, but most of all the bread is AWFUL (Sofitel brand is French ….) the only decent bread was the local Egyptian bread. - Swimming pool: Great, quiet (but you still hear the machines from the kitchen or the AC), food was ok. - Rooms: not much space to store all our clothes and the bathroom was very very small ! The windows are not sound proof so take some ear plugs if you have a Nike view room. - Garden: Beautiful and very well maintained Just a little bit sad to see the peacock locked up in cages. Sustainability: Little was done on this point (only glass bottle for the water and refillable soap and shampoo). But it would be nice to have the option to ask the staff not to change the towels for instance. Note: very few women within the staff : just two at the front desk. Overall a very pleasant stay but few improvement to make !

Undoubtedly an impressive, large hotel with a beautiful facade and absolutely gorgeous large gardens of which the hotel is rightly proud. Nice, large pool with partitioned off area for children. Very attentive pool service - but as everywhere in Egypt, tips are expected every time! Don't leave your money in your room when you come to the pool - we were caught short and encountered a small frisson of annoyance....Smart entrance to the hotel, lovely floral display. Sadly rather soulless restaurants without much atmosphere. The smaller, fine dining one had nice ambience but the service and food were, in our opinion, less good than in the large general restaurant. Food was fine. Breakfast good, with lots of variety. Our large bedroom had a small balcony and looked over the garden. Very comfortable bed. Massive downside generally is that the hotel is smack bang next to a Mosque, and the faithful are called to prayer regularly and extremely loudly with lots of loud, shouty Arabic which can last for half an hour. Not brilliant at 5am....Generally, the interior of the room was getting tired...certainly the hotel public rooms are in urgent need of a refit.

Winter Palace, Luxor

The Winter Palace is a beautiful hotel with the most incredible gardens and pool area. ALL staff are outstanding from the bell boy to the concierge, the Chef’s, pool staff and special mention to Esraa on guest services. Nothing is too much trouble and her smile is never far away. The food is delicious and our room in the original part of the hotel had a lovely balcony with wonderful views of the Nile. It was my birthday and the staff delivered a cake to our room and sang Happy Birthday in English and Egyptian. One of my best memories. Thank you to all the staff at The Winter Palace for making our stay so outstanding.

We will visit again soon.

Fabulous Colonial hotel in the heart of Luxor with gardens that equal to botanical gardens, immaculately kept with flamingos! The pools area are beautiful with all of the facilities and highest attention from the staff. With over forty choices for breakfast, no one is going to be hungry.

Excellent hotel with very attentive service! The garden is absolutely gorgeous and beautiful, we enjoyed our king bed and the room is clean and smells good. It is better to cool off in the pool after visiting temples. Good selection of food and drink available by the pool :)
